Compost for President is a campaign built around the composting of empire, an exploration of pop cultural artifact making with organic materials and freely available resources, and a money-moving initiative. The project started as a slogan, then became a rewrite of the pledge of allegiance to compost, then a prototype for an alternative currency built on trust, evolved to become a reclamation of RealTreeā¢, and more. The project is a farce and also a completely authentic bid and invitation; a joyful process of making things using the kindest possible materials and inviting everybody in, and an ongoing fundraiser to fight the construction of pipelines on stolen land. Humor, mess, collaboration, and time spent outside are essential ingredients.
